First published in 1933, Nathalie Parain's Jungle Masks gave readers a chance to make seven 3D masks of jungle animals inspired by Rudyard Kipling's classic Jungle Book: wolf, panther, tiger, ape, bear, hyena, and vulture, not to mention a Mowgli-esque wild child. As ever, scrupulous about precision, Nathalie Parain was a regular at the Jardin des Plantes zoo in Paris so she could observe and sketch the animals.
